Genital Health - Female
The female genitals are made up of the reproductive organs. (Read about "Reproductive Health") They include:
- Vagina - the opening to the genital tract
- Cervix - the lower portion or entry point to the uterus
- Uterus - which is also called the womb. This is where a fertilized egg implants and a baby grows
- Fallopian tubes - the connection between the uterus and the ovaries. Fertilization often occurs here
- Ovaries - a female gland that stores all the eggs a woman is born with and produces female hormones
There are many diseases and conditions that can affect the female genital tract. Some can do major damage and cause infertility. The links below will take you to more information on some of these diseases and conditions.
