The brain is a complex grouping of nerve cells and other structures that help us think, react to the environment, breathe and even fall in love. (Read about "The Brain") Some parts of our brain help us function without us thinking about it, controlling things such as our heartbeat and our breathing. Without them we would die. Other parts help us make decisions on what we are going to do and how we are going to do it.
The brain works with the rest of the nervous system (Read about the "Nervous System") to keep our body functioning. There are many conditions that affect our brains and nervous system, and as a result, these conditions also impact how we function. They can range from injuries and diseases that create physical problems to chemical imbalances that result in mental health issues. (Read about "Mental Health")
Following the links below will give you more information on some conditions that affect our brains and nervous system, including mental health conditions.
