  1. Red meat can be high in saturated fat and cholesterol and can raise your blood cholesterol. But, according to the National Institutes of Health, many people CAN eat a small serving of lean meat several times a week, if they trim all visible fat. Ask your doctor.
  2. Some foods advertise that they are low in cholesterol. But if they're high in fat, especially saturated fat, they can still raise blood cholesterol and are NOT heart healthy.
